Horrible

You know what I hate? When you get that itch that is halfway between your ear and the back of your throat. It's sort of just beyond the point where you could do anything about it from either direction.

And it just sits there.

Itching.

What exactly is there halfway between my ear and the back of my throat? I don't think I get itches places where there's not any skin.

I know exactly what you're talking about, Star. And the only thing that provides the remotest bit of relief is making that weird frogish type croaking in the back of your throat... you know, you clench all the muscles in your throat together in the hopes that the back of your tongue will scratch the spot. But it doesn't. You just end up making a really weird noise, and that random spot keeps itching.

Is that anything like when you have a popcorn kernel stuck in the back of your throat and nothing you do can get it unstuck.

Oh, I get it. I had a popcorn kernel stuck in my ear once, too.

...what?

I think halfway would be inside your brain.

Honestly, I do not know much about the anatomy of the inside of my skull, but I DO know that your throat, nose, and ears are all connected. So the itch probably happens in one of those connections.

I dunno. But I still hate it.

Usually when I get that itch it means I'm getting sick, so then it just makes it so much worse. To try to fix it I rub my tongue on the top of my mouth but of course that doesn't really do anything.
